Review: L’Oreal Infallible Eyeshadow in Amber Rush

Around the time the Maybelline Color Tattoo Shadows came out L’Oreal released their 24 Hour Infallible Eyeshadows. These are described by L’Oreal as:
“Infallible Eyeshadows contain ultra concentrated colour pigments, for an intense colour finish. Additional binders (oil) coat and magnify the colour pigments revealing beautiful shimmer and maximized colour. The colour adheres to the eyelid as durably and comfortably as a second skin and last for up to 24 hours. With a formulation that lies between the comfort of a cream and the ease of application of powder, infallible eyeshadow melt gently from the fingertips to the eyelid on application. The result is a luxurious, velvety texture.
There are 13 shades in the 24-hour Infallible Eyeshadow collection currently available.  I only picked up one, 892 Amber Rush. This is a peachy, copper color with a metallic finish. I absolutely love this color and is in my go to makeup look for a natural eye look.

Amber Rush
The product, as descried above, is a cream to powder product. The packaging is pot form, with the name of the shade on top with a matching colored label. The bottom is clear. When you remove the top there is a small grey plastic piece that says “do not discard”. I have applied this with my fingers and with my Sigma E55 Eye Shading brush. I do feel that you have to apply and build up the product to get the desired effect.

Amber Rush
The product claims 24-hour wear, which I have never tested any product for 24 hours. I typically wear my makeup for 10-12 hours and it lasted that long, still looking great. I have oily lids, so I have used both Too Faced Shadow Insurance and MAC Paint Pot in Painterly. With both bases I still had the same result, no creasing or fading.

Swatch - Amber Rush
The one I purchased was at Target and I paid around $7 for 3.5 grams/0.12 ounces of product and are sold anywhere L’Oreal products are sold.

I really like this product and I want to try more. To me this is a different product and a great find! Have you tried these Infallible Eyeshadows? What are your favorite colors?

Until next time – <3

Review: Laura Mercier Silk Crème Foundation

As I mentioned in my Mini Weekend Haul/Rant I have been on the hunt for a new foundation. I have used MAC Studio Fix Fluid for about a year now for day-to-day wear and while I still like it I wanted to try out some other foundations that I had heard great things about. I have oily/combination skin and need something that can withstand a full 10-12 hours of wear.

When I was at the mall I popped in to Sephora and decided to try the Laura Mercier Silk Crème Foundation. I don’t need a full coverage foundation for day-to-day wear and the makeup artist said it would give me more coverage than my MAKE UP FOREVER Matte Velvet Plus, and that is a full coverage foundation to me.

Laura Mercier Silk Crème Foundation is described as:
“Laura Mercier Silk Crème Foundation is a rich and luminous foundation offering full coverage while hydrating and protecting the skin. The long-wearing foundation evens out skin tones and increases skin luminosity and clarity for a radiant glow. Its rich, creamy texture glides over the skin effortlessly giving you ample playtime for perfect application and bendability. Perfect for rosacea and hard to cover pigmentation. Oil-free and ideal for all skin types.”

The Silk Crème Foundation comes in only 10 shades, 6 shades of ivory and 4 shades of beige. The color she matched me with is Rose Ivory, which is described as: “For fair to light skin tones – warm ivory family with rose undertones.”

To me this foundation is not full coverage; I would say medium coverage with build ability. The sample she gave me was small and in the picture below is after 5 days of use, I still have plenty left! The texture is so creamy and soft! You need just a little amount and it covers so much. This foundation is the definition of a little bit goes a long way!

I applied this foundation with 2 of my Sigma Sigmax brushes, the F80 Flat Top Kabuki and the F82 Round Top Kabuki. The F80 gave me more of a full coverage than the F82. The F82 gave me a smoother, medium coverage. I think that has to do with my large pores and that the F82 blended and hid them better.

I definitely love this foundation! I received so many comments on my complexion than when I where my Studio Fix Fluid or Matte Velvet Plus. It held up through the day and felt so lightweight, which I love! I definitely don’t like a heavy, cakey foundation.

What I don’t like – the price. The price for this foundation is $42, which is to me pricey. MAC’s Studio Fix Fluid retails for $27 and MAKE UP FOR EVER Matte Velvet Plus retails for $34. While I don’t where the MUFE foundation daily it is still pricey, it is my go to foundation for special occasions and it does not contain any SPF. Studio Fix Fluid contains SPF 15 and the Silk Crème Foundation doesn’t appear to contain any SPF. I checked online and I do not have the actual product, as I still have the sample, so I was unable to confirm this at this time.

I will definitely be purchasing the full-size product. Do you have it or tried it, what are your thoughts? Or, any recommendations for oily/combination skin?

Until next time –
